November is a month of gratitude in Siouxland — a time to honor our veterans, cherish loved ones, and reflect on the many reasons we have to give thanks. As Veterans Day reminds us of the courage and sacrifice of those who serve, Thanksgiving invites us to gather in appreciation for the blessings and people that make our community strong. And even before the turkey is carved, Siouxland is already brimming with festive cheer through three holiday kick-off events. Two of these celebrations give back to local causes, while all three promise dazzling lights, lively performances, and fun for the whole family — the perfect way to begin a season of joy and giving.

Get into the holiday spirit with the 4th Annual Shriners Parade of Trees, running Saturday, November 22 – Saturday, November 29 at the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple. Enjoy a dazzling display of beautifully decorated trees from local businesses—each tree, complete with gifts underneath, could be yours through $1 raffle tickets! Every visit also earns a chance to win the Lotto Tree—so come back daily for more chances to win. Plus, enjoy live choir performances, visits with Santa, kids’ crafts, hot treats, festive music, photo opportunities, and more—all for a great cause.

| IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade |
Downtown Sioux City sparkles with the IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade on Monday, November 24 at 6:15 p.m. Glowing floats and marching bands wind down 4th Street (Iowa to Nebraska Streets), culminating in the lighting of the holiday tree at the Sioux City Public Museum. Extend the fun before and after the parade with Downtown Open Houses, where local shops welcome visitors with festive treats, warm drinks, and seasonal surprises. After the parade, children can visit Santa at the Art SUX building, 515 4th Street, making it a magical evening for the whole family.

Celebrate the 32nd Annual Festival of Trees at the Ho-Chunk Centre, starting Monday, November 24 at 6:15 p.m. Enjoy performances by Grace United Methodist Church Solid Brass Bell Choir, Socorra’s Performing Arts, Arena Dance Academy, and Sioux Crew Hip Hop Group. View festive trees, wreaths, and holiday items through December 4, participate in the silent auction through December 3, and join the live auction on December 4 starting with the highest silent bids. Proceeds benefit the Siouxland Humane Society, with donations welcome at the Giving Tree.
