5-Year Destination Strategic Plan Report Completed |
Last month VTV concluded our collective 10-month strategic planning research with JLL Advisors following engagement with 100 stakeholders, 5 focus groups, 55+ individual meetings, monthly steering committee meetings and reaching over 1,500 participants in bi-monthly newsletter updates. A sincere ‘Thank You!’ to everyone who has participated in this endeavor to create the roadmap and vision for a successful and sustainable tourism industry for the next 5 years - and beyond! JLL presented the 110-page report to our Board of Directors in November with next steps to be addressed during a board retreat and staff implementation workshop in January. The DSP centers around six priorities to guide the destination and VTV through 2028. The priorities include: Destination Development, Multiuse Venue Development, Connectivity, Direct Marketing & Branding, Economic Development & Business Friendliness, and Organizational Development. We will continue to engage with the community at large (and in great depth) and thank you once again for supporting Visit Tri-Valley’s efforts on behalf of the industry. Our future is looking stronger and brighter than ever!

Hillary Bamont (Group Sales Manager for Visit Tri-Valley) attended the California Society of Association Executives annual conference last week in Sacramento. She met with nine association planners who have qualified leads for the Tri-Valley area, including the California Peace Officers Association and Associated Builders and Contractors in Northern California, to name a few. In addition to the scheduled meetings, Hillary represented Visit Tri-Valley on the trade show floor with Renald Mesina, Director of Sales & Marketing for Marriott Pleasanton and Danae Lutz-Franco, Senior Sales Manager for Marriott Pleasanton. The show was a huge success with a great number of individuals interested in booking their meetings in the Tri-Valley area!

New Transparency Laws take effect July, 2024 |
The Legislature passed two measures designed to increase the transparency of advertised prices.
The first measure, Senate Bill 478 makes it unlawful to advertise, display, or offer a price for a good or service that doesn't include all mandatory fees or charges other than levies imposed by a government. The second measure, Assembly Bill 537 requires that hotels, short-term vacation rentals, and third-party booking sites advertise the total price to be paid by a consumer to stay at a hotel or other lodging accommodation (ie: mandatory resort fees, F&B fees), excluding government taxes and fees (TOT, TBID, TID, etc.). The intent of these measures is to create a clearer price comparison for consumers. While CalTravel successfully negotiated amendments to exclude government-imposed levies from both new laws, it's important for impacted business to become familiar with implementation before they go into affect July 1, 2024. Our partners at the California Hotel and Lodging Association (CHLA) have created a useful compliance guide that includes fast facts, legislative summaries, and FAQ.
