Traveler Sentiment Still Strong for 2022 By Destination Analysts
When it comes to what’s in store for 2022, while COVID still looms large—with weakened confidence in the ability to travel safety and declining senses of travel normalcy—Americans' overall travel sentiment has actually improved. Those in a ready-to-travel state of mind rose to 77.9%—among the highest levels since the start of the pandemic. While Omicron has and will impact travel, thus far it has not quelled Americans’ interest in travel in the ways previous surges did. Strong excitement for leisure travel grew to 69.2%. Americans are also increasingly enthusiastic to learn about new travel experiences (61.1%). Over 30% of American travelers expect to take more leisure trips in 2022 than in 2021. In addition, American travelers will have a firm focus on fun. When asked about their travel in 2022, Americans’ most say they will prioritize having fun (75.8%), followed by relaxing (69.2%), finding happiness (64.1%) and escaping stress (60.9%). Indoor Mask Mandate Extended Concern about the Omicron variant has prompted an indoor mask mandate extension through at least February 15 regardless of vaccination status. For more information on the mask mandate from the California Department of Public Health, click here. In addition, CDPH announced a lower threshold when it comes to Mega Events. Mega Events are now defined as 500 attendees indoors and 5,000 attendees outdoors.
Cal/OSHA followed with guidelines on employee isolation if they test positive or are exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID-19.
Marketing Update Caffeine for a Cause was extended through January 17, so you still have time to get to those final stops and receive your limited edition mug! Plus, VTV will donate $20 to Culinary Angels, a local nonprofit that provides nutrient-rich meals to members of the community experiencing a serious health challenge.

West Coast Jamboree in the Tri-Valley Champions from DeSoto High School with tournament director Harold Abend and our own Todd Dibs Visit Tri-Valley hosted the West Coast Jamboree (Girls Basketball Tournament) between Christmas and New Year. The tournament was affected by cancellations due to COVID and the snow at the California/Nevada border, yet still had more than 100 teams come to the Tri-Valley. DeSoto High School from Texas won the top division with their five starters all going to Division 1 universities next year.
