COVID-19 Business Resources and Updates

Our ED&T team is here to provide up to date information and resources during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus). You may have seen our newsletter earlier this week focusing on the COVID-19 Disaster Assistance Loans through the Small Business Administration, our EDA Loan Program, and other business news over the last month.

The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering designated states and territories low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the Coronavirus.

Virginia is not yet on the list of eligible states, but the Governor has declared a state of emergency and Stafford County declared a local state of emergency to help our small businesses become eligible. We will keep updating this page as details are finalized.

While we are still waiting for the Commonwealth of Virginia to officially be listed and classified as an “eligible” area, we encourage Stafford County businesses interested in submitting an application for financing through the SBA’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) Disaster Assistance Program to begin completing the application. We will send an update when we receive the emergency declaration number (the number assigned to the State). General guidance on the SBA Disaster Loan process can be found here.

If you are a small business, please complete this survey provided by the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity as soon as possible but before 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2020 to help with the State and Federal response and getting Virginia on the eligible areas list.

Your favorite Stafford restaurants, bistros, bakers, grocery stores, and other food services are open during these challenging times. Many are serving via Pick-Up or Delivery, or both. Some are open for small groups as well. Some are offering special hours for seniors or First Responders. We encourage all businesses and residents to call or check local establishment websites and social media for meal options.

Please continue to visit our Coronavirus Business Resource webpage as information and resources available to you are updating constantly. Lastly, if you have any questions, concerns, or opportunities during these challenging times, do not hesitate to contact us.
