| University of Mary Washington's Continuing & Professional Studies Department is launching a series of 1-day seminars to build leadership and business skills in the Fredericksburg region. The Stafford EDA has invested in 50 seats to the Business Acumen Series to support the Stafford Business Community with educational resources. You may be eligible to attend these educational sessions on behalf of the Stafford EDA. The Business Acumen Series (BAS) will combine university knowledge and the practical application of innovative tools to drive your organization's mission and deliver results. Come and be a part of these exclusive events!

SAVE THE DATE! Veterans Business Bootcamp is November 1st |
The Veterans Business Bootcamp Workshop is a program instituted by the University of Mary Washington Center for Economic Development (UMW CED) and the Stafford County Economic Development Authority (Stafford EDA).
This bootcamp designed for veterans and partners will provide resources and knowledge to start and grow your veteran owned business. We will also be presenting the regional Veteran Business of the Year Award presented by the Center for Economic Development.
You will be led through educational sessions by veteran entrepreneurs and local business executives, and have the opportunity to network with other veteran business owners.
This event is offered IN-PERSON OR ONLINE. This event will be held at the UMW Small Business Development Center, Eagle Village, 1125 Emancipation Hwy, Suite 400, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. We have a limited number of seats available. Please note your attending preference (IN-PERSON or ONLINE) when registering. Those attending online will receive a link to join the morning of the event. |

Organizer: UMW SBDC Location: Virtual This is a self-guided online learning module that covers the First Steps to Starting a Business webinar. You will receive the link to the module within 1 business day upon receiving your payment. You will have three weeks to go through the online module and it does not need to be completed before the end of the month.
The module will provide you with information about the services offered by the SBDC, business research sources available, an overview of various business entities, local requirements for starting a business, and insurance requirements. Key takeaways will be: understanding how the SBDC can help your business, creating a mission statement, exploring customer discovery, providing information on the various Business Structures, & licensing, registration, and insurances. |

| V-TOP Workshop: Developing Our Workforce Through Internships | 8:30 AM Organizer: Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership Location: Germanna Community College
Do you need an intern? Join Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership for a free, half-day workshop designed to help local organizations learn how to develop high-quality, mutually beneficial internship experiences, satisfy the training prerequisite to qualify for state-funded support for creating or expanding an internship program, and network over lunch. This workshop is designed to provide local organizations with guided support to fulfill V-TOP’s training prerequisite to access a 50% funding match to pay interns and/or free support from a state-appointed staffing agency. The workshop will compress V-TOP’s eight-hour online course, “Developing an Internship Program,” into a three-hour live session highlighting the six required modules, complemented by an hour of lunch and networking with participants.
This workshop will be most beneficial for organizations in V-TOP Region 6 (Fredericksburg, Middle Peninsula, and Northern Neck areas) that are registered with the State Corporation Commission, have been in business for 3 or more years, have 250 or fewer employees, and are not government agencies. |

CALL FOR EXHIBITORS! Stafford County Public Schools will host the 2nd Annual Chart Your Future Expo on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Fredericksburg Convention Center from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for your business to recruit the next generation of our workforce as all high school seniors and post-graduate students will attend the Expo as part of their learning day. Last year, more than 1,500 Stafford Schools 12th grade students attended the Expo developing valuable connections with local businesses, colleges, military branches, and community resources. This year we anticipate similar, if not greater attendance and we need you to make this event a success; register to host an exhibitor booth, volunteer as a mock interviewer or resume reviewer, or become an event sponsor.
