Model aviation takes to the skies across the region this October with two unique events. On October 9-11, the 46th Annual Golden State Stunt Championships returns to Folsom Lake State Recreation Area in Granite Bay, where control-line pilots will showcase precision aerobatics, including loops, figure eights and inverted flight. Then on October 24, the Bigwood OctoberFast Warbird Pylon Race brings high-speed action to Sacramento Area Modelers, where radio-controlled WWII-era Warbirds race around a three-pylon course at speeds reaching up to 180 mph. Both events offer a chance to experience the skill, craftsmanship and excitement of competitive model aviation right here in the region. For specific event details, visit the links below.

October 17-18, Roebbelen Center in Roseville |
Roseville is getting ready to welcome the energy of youth cheer once again as JAMZ Reload returns to the Roebbelen Center for its second year @the Grounds. Teams will hit the floor for a full day of stunts, tumbling, jumps and choreography, competing for awards and a chance to earn their spot at JAMZ Nationals. The event is already proving to be a strong draw for the region, generating more than 150 hotel room nights in Placer Valley last year as athletes, coaches, and families traveled in for the competition. JAMZ will return to Roseville next month with additional events, bringing even more athletes and families to the region.

Two days of competitive youth basketball are coming to Roseville as Grassroots 365 returns to the Roebbelen Center for the fourth year of the G365 Capital Clash. The tournament brings top boys club teams together for fast-paced matchups, with G365 rankings, player recognition and tournament honors adding another level of competition to the weekend. Last year’s Capital Clash generated 240 hotel room nights in Placer Valley, demonstrating the event’s continued draw beyond the court.

Some of the West Coast’s most talented young soccer players are coming to the Placer Valley Soccer Complex this month for the first-ever MLS NEXT Academy Division Regional Qualifier. More than 100 teams and approximately 2,000 boys and young men ages 13–19 will compete for a chance to advance to the MLS NEXT Cup, with teams traveling from California and Washington and several Sacramento-area clubs taking the field. Expect three days of fast-paced, highly competitive soccer as many of the athletes compete for opportunities to play at the collegiate, professional, and national team levels. The event is expected to welcome approximately 8,000 athletes, coaches, family members, and fans and generate more than $1.5 million in economic impact for Placer Valley through hotel stays, dining and other local spending. Admission and parking are free.
