Ottawa’s epic sports weekend, August 2025

Ottawa came alive August 1–3 when the city hosted the inaugural IRONMAN Canada–Ottawa, a record-breaking Rugby Canada vs. USA Women’s 15s match and Athletics Canada’s Track & Field Championships.

 

IRONMAN Canada-Ottawa returns in 2026 and registration is now open. (read more) 

Ottawa hosted the Masters Indigenous Games 2025

From August 14–17, Ottawa welcomed Indigenous athletes for the 2025 Masters Indigenous Games.

 

The Cultural Village at Lansdowne Park offered arts, performances, food and interactive experiences. (read more) 

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa hosted the World Title Unification

On September 20, boxing champions Sara Bailey and Evelin Nazarena faced off during the IBF-WBO World Title Unification at Hard Rock LIVE theatre, delivering world-class action to Ottawa fans. (read more) 

Ottawa Tourism and Wheelchair Basketball Canada Panel

On September 23, Ottawa Tourism partnered with Wheelchair Basketball Canada for a panel and try-it session at the RA Centre, highlighting inclusive sport and the upcoming 2026 IWBF World Championships.  (read more) 

Ottawa Tourism is attending SPOHOX 2025

Members of Ottawa Tourism's Major Events and Sport team will attend Spo Ho Xperience 2025 (SPOHOX) in Regina, Saskatchewan from October 29–30, connecting with sport industry professionals and exploring trends in sport hosting. (read more)

Ottawa hosted 2025 PWHL Draft

On June 24, Ottawa hosted the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) Draft at the Hard Rock LIVE theatre.

 

The event's Fan Fest featured live entertainment, food trucks and a purple carpet, showcasing Ottawa as a vibrant sports city. (read more)
