September 27, 2019 The Mobile Visitors Center has a name!
The votes are in and we want to welcome Seymour Jax to the family! Visit Jacksonville wrapped up the "What’s my Name? Game" contest after two rounds of voting. A commemorative name plate will be installed by our contest winner on Seymour in the coming weeks.
Visit Jacksonville is hitting the road and cruising the streets with our mobile visitor center to provide the best information to visitors on what to do, see, eat and experience in our city. The van is outfitted with an awning, television and information on Jax.
VJ HOSTS EVENTS IN THE WINDY CITY - The Visit Jacksonville Communications and Convention Sales teams joined forces in Chicago this September to host two promotional events for convention planners and travel media in the windy city. The events, one in the suburbs and one Downtown, were very successful and have already produced several sales leads and 5 tentative media visits to explore Jacksonville. Chicago is a top target market for Jacksonville both for the abundance of meeting planners and the easy access for leisure travelers. HAPPY WORLD TOURISM DAY - Today, September 27th, is World Tourism Day! No matter how far you travel, what you see or who you travel with, our team is glad to be a part of the experience. Visit Jacksonville is proud to help bring tourists from all over to our great city. Check out our short video celebrating one of our favorite holidays on our Facebook page. YELP IN JAX - Our marketing team has recently connected with Yelp’s local chapter. The chapter produces The Local Yelp – Jacksonville, a weekly newsletter highlighting restaurants, upcoming events and local sponsors. The newsletter is distributed to nearly 43,000 local subscribers. If your organization is interested in sponsoring an edition of The Local Yelp, please reach out to Carla Doty. DEALS FOR YOU - Our friends at The Escape Game are offering a limited time deal for Visit Jacksonville and local businesses. Take a team outing or a family trip and enjoy 30% off any game with code "TEGfriends" when you play on 9/30-10/3. Book your adventure now online! TIN CAN SOLDIERS VISIT JACKSONVILLE - The Convention Services department assisted the Tin Can Soldiers Military Reunion in Jacksonville recently, during their visit the group toured NAS JAX. Two Naval Academy alumni connected over their alma mater and service. With 70 years difference, we were glad to see worlds (and generations) colliding. (photo below)
