May 4, 2020 National Travel & Tourism Week
May 3 marked the kick off to the U.S. Travel Association's National Travel & Tourism Week. This year's theme is the Spirit of Travel (#SpiritofTravel) celebrating the passion of the tourism industry. Visit Jacksonville has a week of engaging events planned online, hoping to spark the interest of locals and visitors alike. Join us on as we honor the local hospitality industry in Jacksonville.
"COVID-19 has brought our industry to a standstill, and as we slowly begin the reopening process, we want to take a moment, better yet a whole week, to say THANK YOU to each and every one of Jacksonville’s 50,000 plus travel and tourism employees. We will return better than ever and that's because of their hard work and dedication to providing an exceptional experience to visitors from across the globe,” said Michael Corrigan, President and CEO of Visit Jacksonville.
Special NTTW #SpiritofTravel Events:
2:00 P.M. Q1: What would you say a visitor must do on their trip to Jacksonville?
2:30 P.M. Q3: Once it's safe to visit what iconic Jax attraction, where will you be headed to?
Health & Safety Industry Guidelines Visit Jacksonville is closely monitoring the trends affecting the tourism industry. The U.S. Travel Association has also released a Health and Safety Industry Guidance for reopening under White House and CDC guidelines. Read their program, Travel in the New Normal. Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2020 Jacksonville is eligible to be awarded "Best Cities" on their Traveler's Choice Awards. The results, which will be announced this October, will be featured in the November issue. Our city would benefit greatly from this award, especially as the nation gets back to travel.
