NORTH BERKELEY FARMERS' MARKET CELEBRATES 20 |
With its farm-to-table legacy started in the 1970s by Alice Waters, Berkeley is naturally a farmers' market kind of place. There are three farmers' markets staged each week in different areas of the city, including the North Berkeley Farmers' Market. This month, the market celebrates its 20th anniversary of providing farm-fresh produce to residents, chefs, visitors, and more. The celebration happens on Thursday, August 15 from 3-7pm at Shattuck and Vine with live music, cold drinks from Vintage Berkeley and Headlands Brewing, a tie-dye station, and a family-friendly play area with games and activities. Berkeley's Ecology Center manages the city's three thriving and vibing Farmers’ Markets. The Bay Area’s most esteemed restaurants, the Berkeley Unified School District, local food justice programs, UC Berkeley Cooperative Housing, and thousands of residents get the freshest, most delicious fruits and vegetables at these markets while supporting the region’s small family farms.
