2ND ANNUAL BERKELEY BIRD FESTIVAL READY TO SOAR CITYWIDE
The Berkeley Bird Festival is a free, all-day event taking flight at multiple locations around the city on Sunday, Oct. 16. Festival activities include bird walks, sidewalk chalk drawing, bird costume contest for kids, and a parade on Solano Avenue. More activities will be offered at the David Brower Center from 12 - 5 pm including origami bird folding, bird mask making, and Winged Wonderment (writers, poets, scientists, teachers, and artists sharing bird stories, poems, songs, art, and more). Presented by the California Institute for Community, Art & Nature, in partnership with the Golden Gate Audubon Society, UC Berkeley Chancellor’s Community Partnership Fund, the City of Berkeley, and the David Brower Center. EDIBLE RENO-TAHOE GETS A TASTE OF BERKELEY

COOL BEANS: TCHO CHOCOLATE TOURS ARE BACK IN BERKELEY
Berkeley-made TCHO Chocolate has resumed its popular guided factory tours. The behind-the-scenes look at how TCHO's award-winning chocolate is made, from raw ingredients to finished products, is Wonka-level entertainment. Learn about TCHO's chocolate-making process, its responsible sourcing methods (TCHO Source), and walk through the bean-to-bar flavor laboratory. The entire TCHO retail line is produced at its state-of-the-art chocolate factory in West Berkeley and is Certified Fair Trade & Organic, vegan, gluten free and kosher. BERKELEY POTTERS GUILD KEEPS ON SPINNING
With more than 100 producers in the West Berkeley industrial district, manufacturing is an economic driver for the community. One of Berkeley's iconic arts collectives, the Berkeley Potters Guild is currently the subject of a Berkeleyside feature in conjunction with Bay Area Manufacturing Week. HAPPY HYDRATION AT THE FARMERS' MARKET EVERY THURSDAY IN OCTOBER
Thirsty Thursdays continue through October at the North Berkeley All-Organic Farmers Market. Enjoy live local music, sustainable wine, craft beer, Rebout a line of wellness beverages created by Kitchen on Fire, and a bounty of environmentally-themed activities while you shop. Tune in to an amazing lineup of local musicians, as well as bubble blowing, art, dance, and chalk art at the Kids Eco-Zone. Three times each week, the Ecology Center Farmers' Markets bring fruits, vegetables, nuts, baked goods, jams and preserves, juices, olive oils, meat, cheese, prepared foods, nursery plants, and flowers directly to consumers.

BOUNTIFUL AND BARTable: BERKELEY HARVEST FESTIVAL AT CEDAR ROSE PARK
The free Berkeley Harvest Festival happens Saturday, 10/15 from 11 to 4 at beautiful Cedar Rose Park. The City of Berkeley's annual Harvest Festival is a chance to honor the Fall season with live music and kids' activities. Pumpkin decorating, petting zoo, photo booth, carnival games, and food trucks, too. Cedar Rose Park is within walking distance of North Berkeley BART and thus, highly BARTable!.

ECO-BERKELEY: A LEGACY OF ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISM OPENS AT BHS
Berkeley is often at the forefront of the environmental movement. Celebrating this civic leadership, Eco-Berkeley: A Legacy of Environmental Activism opens Oct. 21 at the Berkeley Historical Society & Museum. The exhibit will feature sections on the Save the Bay movement, Richard Register and "ecocities," Carl Anthony and environmental justice, the Berkeley Ecology Center, along with books, posters, and other objects. Go Oct. 21 for the exhibit opening and to hear a short talk at 5:15 pm by Ken Brower about his father, David Brower, a towering figure in the green movement. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase his Heyday book, The Wildness Within: Remembering David Brower, at the bargain price of $5.00, the books donated by the author to benefit the Berkeley Historical Society & Museum.

GAME DAY: CAL GOLDEN BEARS GRIDIRON UPDATE
UC Berkeley's football squad, the California Golden Bears, returns to California Memorial Stadium to tame the Washington Huskies on Saturday, Oct. 22, followed by Oregon (Oct. 29), Stanford (Nov. 19, 125th Big Game), and UCLA (Nov. 25). Go Bears!

December fills up fast, too, so mark your calendar: the Berkeley Holiday Gift Fair returns Thursday, Dec. 8 to the Hotel Shattuck Plaza.
