Throughout February, residents and visitors that check into four or more of Hampton’s museums and Black Heritage sites offered on the self-guided tour will be able to win a special prize.

| Steve Urick, Seafood Research Specialist

Hampton native Steve Urick has long been a fixture at the Virginia Seafood Agricultural Research and Extension Center. Urick conducts aquaculture research to support the industry, mentors interns, and connects people with the vibrant world of seafood and aquaculture. Since 2011, he has been at the helm of the VSAREC’s aquaculture program, one of several research and Extension programs managed by Virginia Tech. Over 300 interns, students, and visiting scientists have benefited from Urick's mentorship, and he has directly interacted with over 2,000 local high school students.
