The 1619 Commemoration of the First Enslaved African Landing program and concert will be held August 26-28. The program begins on August 26 with a Descendent Community Virtual Round Table at 1 p.m. The event continues on August 27 at 11 a.m. featuring professor and attorney Gloria J. Browne-Marshall as keynote speaker, a concert by trombonist and composer Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra, and more at Fort Monroe Continental Park. The commemoration concludes on Sunday, August 28 (Healing Day) with a full schedule of events including a sunrise cleansing ceremony, healing walk, drummer circle plus yoga and meditation.
