Creating Worlds Playwright Festival

August 13–16
Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center

 

The Big Bear Theatre Project presents its inaugural Creating Worlds Playwright Festival—a celebration of original voices and brand-new stories developed in Big Bear.

 

Audiences will be among the first to experience these works as they come to life on stage, fresh from the page. The festival highlights Big Bear as a place where creativity is encouraged and new art is born.

Conquer the Wall

Saturday, August 15
Snow Summit, 880 Summit Boulevard

 

One mile. Straight uphill. At 7,000 feet.

 

Conquer the Wall invites runners of all ages and abilities to test themselves on one of Big Bear’s most legendary climbs. The course follows “The Wall,” Snow Summit’s steepest ski slope and a route once used by Olympian Ryan Hall during his early training in Big Bear.

Fawnskin Annual Doo Dah Parade

One of Big Bear’s quirkiest traditions returns to Fawnskin. Expect creative costumes, colorful characters and plenty of small-town fun during this one-of-a-kind community parade.

Big Bear MX Grand Prix by O'NEAL

August 19-23 | 8:00 AM-4:00 PM

Bear Mountain, 43101 Goldmine Drive

 

Motocross takes over the mountain as the Big Bear MX Grand Prix by O’NEAL returns to Bear Mountain for five action-packed days of racing.

 

The course puts Big Bear’s mountain terrain to work with jumps, berms, technical sections and major elevation changes across an approximately three-mile dirt loop. Racers ranging from young riders to 60+ competitors will take on the course, with classes spanning beginner through pro levels.

 

Spectators can catch the action from Bear Mountain’s base area and patio deck, with food and beverages available and sponsors showcasing products and demos throughout the event.

Music in the Mountains - Journey & Bryan Adams

Saturday, August 22nd | 6:30-9:30

Big Bear Discovery Center

 

Spend an evening under the stars with DSB – The World’s Greatest Tribute to Journey, bringing the soaring vocals, signature sound and arena-rock energy of Journey to the Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater.

 

Summer of ’69 – Tribute to Bryan Adams opens the evening with more classic rock favorites before DSB takes the stage. The concert is part of the Southern California Mountains Foundation’s Music in the Mountains series, with proceeds supporting conservation, recreation and education programs throughout the San Bernardino National Forest.

Big Bear Rodeo Carnival Ticket Pre-Sale is now Live

The Big Bear Rodeo & Carnival is gearing up for a weekend of rodeo action and midway fun in Big Bear, and wristbands are now on sale. 

 

Guests can buy a one-day unlimited ride wristband for $40 during pre-sale, saving $10 off the $50 gate price. 

 

The carnival midway will have rides and attractions for all ages, like the Ferris Wheel, Go Gator Coaster, Sizzler, Mindwinder, Round Up, Super Slide, Ballistic Swings, Pirate Funhouse, and more.
