Visit Big Bear Lodging Partners,
Winter is almost here — aka the season when Big Bear earns nearly 70% of its annual income. And let’s be honest… the past few years have been a wild ride: light winters, monster blizzards, fires, outages, and now, major highway closures. So the Roads to Big Bear Initiative is kicking things into high gear — with a simple mission: Keep guests safe, keep traffic moving, and keep our businesses thriving. A key part of that is encouraging guests to use Highway 18 through Lucerne Valley in all of your guest communications.
We can do it… with a little creativity (and some very enticing guest perks). |
To help ease winter traffic and keep visitors smiling, we’re encouraging all lodging partners to sprinkle in some fun incentives and clear travel messaging. Here's how you can help make a big impact: 1. Encourage Guests to “Arrive Smart, Drive Smart” Send friendly reminders to: - Prepare for winter road conditions
- Check Caltrans updates before heading up
- Pack chains + emergency gear
-
Build in extra travel time
- Drive with extreme caution on 330 & 18
Friendly, playful language works wonders — think: “Chains aren’t optional… they’re your winter bestie!”
Please submit what you will be offering to be featured on BigBear.com: (submit multiple forms if necessary) |
A little flexibility goes a long way! Consider offering:
✨ Early check-ins (Arrive before the rush!)
✨ Late check-outs (Sleep in, skip the gridlock!) ✨ Stay-Longer Specials like: - 50% off an extra night
- 3rd night FREE
- Midweek Magic deals (discounted Tues–Thurs nights)
- Storm Day Specials (extend your stay at a discount when roads are impacted)
-
Flexible arrival windows for peak weekends
These perks don’t just help spread out traffic — they boost revenue, improve guest happiness, and keep winter weekends flowing instead of gridlocked.

Every creative tweak we make helps keep Big Bear: - Safer
-
Less congested
- More enjoyable for guests
- And stronger economically for all of us
We’re all in this together — one early check-in, one extra night, and one friendly safety reminder at a time. Thanks for being rock stars for our community and for your guests.
Let’s make this winter season Big Bear’s smoothest (and most fun) yet! Roads to Big Bear Initiative Keeping the mountain magical, mile by mile. -The Visit Big Bear Team |
