Key Topics Covered

Unified “Roads to Big Bear” Messaging

With Highway 38 closed for the season, unified route communication is essential. We reviewed the clear, consistent guidance every business can share with winter guests — encouraging them to arrive early, stay late, and use Highway 18 through Lucerne Valley to reduce congestion on Highway 330. This alignment ensures visitors receive the same helpful message regardless of where they interact with our community — front desks, call centers, websites, social media, or in person.

Visitor Trends & Winter Pacing

We walked through the latest visitor behavior insights and lodging performance trends to help partners anticipate demand and prepare for the months ahead.

Winter Campaign Preview

Attendees received an advance look at our upcoming winter marketing campaign, including creative themes and messaging pillars designed to support both visitation and guest experience.

Care for Big Bear Updates

We provided updates on winter stewardship efforts — including trail cleanups, guest education, winter safety messaging, and ways businesses can support responsible visitation.

Local Business Leader Panel

We also heard from a panel of local business leaders representing a wide range of business categories in town. They shared practical ways they’re adjusting operations this winter to encourage longer stays, smooth traffic flow, promote weekday extensions, help guests arrive earlier and leave later to avoid peak congestion, and guide visitors to Highway 18 through Lucerne Valley instead of Highway 330.

Our speakers included:

  • Justin Kenton, Advertising & PR Director, Big Bear Mountain Resort
  • Monica Marini, Owner of Wyatt’s and the Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest
  • Adam Mazella, Owner, Grocery Outlet Big Bear
  • Melissa Gade, Big Bear Vacations
  • Danielle Goldsmith, Goldsmiths Sports
  • Tara Antongiorgi, Airbnb Specialist
  • Mike Rotman, Boutique Property Management
  • Matt Scriven, Owner of retail shops in The Village

We also want to extend a special thank-you to Even Engle and the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce for their input and for helping to carry this unified messaging out to the broader business community.

Post-Summit Mixer

A big thank-you as well to Sandy’s Sports Bar & Restaurant for hosting an awesome post-summit mixer. It was a great time, and we were glad to keep the conversation going over drinks and enjoy time together with Chamber members, Visit Big Bear partners, and our wider business community.

We will continue to send updates, talking points, and ready-to-use messaging so you and your teams can stay aligned throughout the season. On December 1, we will also send out our Winter Toolkit, which will include Roads to Big Bear messaging and marketing assets you can use in your own channels and guest communications.

We look forward to working with all of you to help alleviate as much congestion as we can this winter while still delivering a great experience for our guests.

If you have any questions or need assets for your team, please reach out anytime.
